Jay Family Association

 Archive CD

The Jay Family Association (JFA) was founded in the 1950's for the express purpose of organizing and recording Jay Family genealogical research.  One of its founding members, Katherine Jay Bradley of Atlanta, GA, was instrumental in the nurturing of the organization and collecting materials for its archives.  In the fall of 2003, the JFA decided to undertake the project of copying these files to CD.  It is only appropriate as the archives are owned by the Association and should be readily shared by all.

The transfer project is now complete and the JFA is making the CDs available to interested genealogists.

File Format – Adobe PDF for ease of viewing with IBM and MAC hardware.

Content – Over 4,000++ quality scans.  About ˝ of the content are documents, letters, correspondence, etc. pertaining to William Jay and Mary Vestal, their children and descendants.  Most lines are well represented.  The remaining ˝ of the content contains letters, correspondence and lineage charts from a multitude of former and current JFA members and other interested allied family members.

The information is conveniently organized into folders for ease of accessibility and reading.  The bulk of the historical material dates from the 1950s through the early 1970s and gives the reader a fascinating insight into the research “brickwalls”, thoughts and assumptions from researchers who have paved the way for our generation.  There are copies of many land deeds, wills, etc.  Believe me……there are tidbits on this CD for even the most advanced genealogist.

Many files are devoted to allied families as well ... the Pugh, Wright, Arnold, McCool, Perdue and Vestal Families are all well represented.

Price - $25 for JFA members

             $85 for non-JFA members

As chairman of the JFA CD Project Committee and a life long researcher, having the opportunity to review the material in the archives was a wonderfully informative exercise.  You can rest assured that the information available on this CD is worth many times its cost.
