I am very interested in The Jay Association. My lost ancestor is Sampson H. Jay, son of John Jay and Lucy Toles. I cannot find any information on his daughter, Sophia, my 3rd great-grandmother, or the rest of his children - except his son, Lot B. Jay. I hope to find more information from The Jay Family Association. Thank you for having this website.

Where do I start? Beverly Jay Martin fixed me up with this site---My grandmother was Neva (Jay) Frampton, and I remember my great-grandmother and grandfather Jay--they lived across the street from my grandmother in Howe, Texas when I was very young. I still have 2nd cousins in Howe and they try to keep me up on this side of the family---but I admit I dont know much---

He was a brother to my grandmother Mabel "Goss" Reed Jay.He made up charts showing all the families of the Deeters,Teeters and Jays.I hope to be at the reunion.

I have a copy of the lawsuit about the Jay and Bates Ranch which a friend sent me. Does anyone have any connections with Joe Jay, married Lydia Ann Bates, helped settle SD and moved from Pennington county SD to Rapid City SD as member of state legislature? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Wish I could make the reunion, I lived in Troy in 1956-1959. I hope to have a Bates reunion in Beaumont in June 2010.

We saw the ad for the reunion in the Troy Daily News 9/27/09. Listed was Coppock-Coate-Elleman-Macy-Pemberton-Pearson. As a child my father spoke of Coppocks, Coates, and Pearsons. My Grandfather was Harvey Elleman of Ludlow Falls, and Dad spoke of Grandpa attending the Quaker Church. Seeking info on where the Ellemans connect with the Jay Family. My husband is into genealogy so we hope to find some information on the 17th at Brukner.

The new Jay Family Association site is very nice, well put together. Thank you for all your efforts.

My Grandmother is Mary Alice Jaye daughter of Thomas E, Jaye of Alabama, son of John Stinson Jaye. Mary Alice Jaye married Madison Green Whatley from Columbus, Muscogee, Georgia, they resided in Monroe County, Alabama and then in Stockton, Baldwin County Alabama until their deaths. My Father Jimmie Lee Whatley was their son.

I was a member several years ago and will be joining again soon. Really happy to hear that the 2009 Family Reunion will be in Ohio and only thirty minutes from me...can not wait. I will be looking forward to meeting everybody.

Best Regards, Janet

William & Mary (Vestal) Jay were my ggggggg grandparents, if I figure correctly. I grew up in Northern Michigan, which is where my grandfather, Robert E. Jay moved to from Indiana around 1926, maybe. Very interesting (& confusing, at times) sorting out all the Jays!

I never thought there were some many people with the last name Jay because I have never met another person with my last name. My grandfather is harold jay and I know his mother's name was mini straight but I really don't know anything about my great grandfather who was a Jay .... I actually don't even know his first name. I have always wondered about that side of the family because we never have had a Jay family reunion.

I am trying to trace Bates family history and have many Jay names in partial family historis from Bates, Miller, Raber, Jay. A Beulah Jay 1883/1889 married Bernard Bates which was, I think, my GreatGrandfather. I found mention of your web site in some papers "Jay Family" by Margaret Beheler Jay. I am hoping to be able to perhaps get some help from your organization. Thank you very much. Don Bates
